An occasional look at the team....

We thought it might be nice to have an occasional blog post to give a wee introduction to who's who at Hatstand Nelly and who you can expect to meet when you visit us. As Denise, our Salon Co-ordinator is often the first person clients speak to before they've even visited us, seems only right to start with her!

Denise

Denise has been with Hatstand Nelly since we opened in 2004. She started with us as Receptionist but is now an integral part of the management and training team, supporting Lorraine and keeping everyone (including herself!) organised.

She's usually the first person you speak to when booking an appointment and often the first person to welcome you when you visit us .

Denise can often be found putting the world to rights at her desk with our clients and is always happy to chat and find out what's been going on with folk.

(Is at her best after a coffee or two!!)

Denise & Demi Christmas 2016

An important part of her role here is helping train the apprentices - Denise completed her SQA Assessors training in 2016.

Always a willing model for colours in their training  - she's been everything from blue, red, purple and green over the years but is sporting a respectable dark brown for the moment - probably not for long!

She is also happy to lend an ear or a strong shoulder when needed!

" I feel very proud of Hatstand Nelly and everything we've achieved over the years - there's not many jobs where you get to spend your day  helping people feel good about themselves!"

Outside work Denise loves her music and gigs - a happy day for her is when the postman turns up with records in his bag! She is also studying with the Open University. She loves experimenting with cooking and plans on writing her best seller "1001 ways with Chickpeas" when she has a free moment!

We opened our doors for the first time on Wednesday 4th August 2004!

Hatstand Nelly has changed and grown over the years but among the current team Lorraine still has Denise, Leigh, Jan and Louise  who have all been with us from the first year - other than 8 lots of maternity leave between them!

We're also very privileged to have clients who have stayed with us throughout the last 13 years - always good to catch up and see what's going on with everyone when they visit the salon.

Some of our most satisfying achievements have been seeing our apprentices learn and grow through their training to become stylists in their own right - helping nurture the next generation of hairdressers is a very rewarding part of our work.

We had a lovely time this Sunday welcoming everyone to the salon to see and learn some tricks and techniques for their hair. Bubbly flowed free and nibbles were munched! We had our apprentices on braids, stylists showing how to make the most of your GHDs and more.

Most importantly, we raised over £300 for Northsound Cash for Kids!

A massive well done to our young client Josh for raising over £65 for CLIC Sargent with his P3 Enterprise project! He made lots of corner bookmarks which we were happy to offer in the salon for a donation - such a good idea!
Thanks to everyone that made Josh's idea a success 😊 👏 👏 👌 x

Listen up those of you who spend lots of time and often money trying to control your frizzy mop!

Yuko is a permanent straightening system designed to give you low maintenance, shiny, hassle-free straight hair.  By realigning the bonds in the hair structure, it makes it easier for you to manage at home.  Results that last as long as it takes your hair to grow out.

Louise looked after  Carol-Ann this week.  Carol-Ann has had Yuko many times with roughly 1-2 visits each year.  You can see the visible results between all three pics - her hair looks so much more straight and smooth even only roughly blow dried and the shine in the finished result is amazing.

It can take up to 5 hours for Yuko and at £300 it isn't for the faint-hearted but it is an investment in your hair!

You're welcome to give us a shout for a consultation if you think this could be for you.
