We thought it might be nice to have an occasional blog post to give a wee introduction to who's who at Hatstand Nelly and who you can expect to meet when you visit us. As Denise, our Salon Co-ordinator is often the first person clients speak to before they've even visited us, seems only right to start with her!

Denise has been with Hatstand Nelly since we opened in 2004. She started with us as Receptionist but is now an integral part of the management and training team, supporting Lorraine and keeping everyone (including herself!) organised.
She's usually the first person you speak to when booking an appointment and often the first person to welcome you when you visit us .
Denise can often be found putting the world to rights at her desk with our clients and is always happy to chat and find out what's been going on with folk.
(Is at her best after a coffee or two!!)

An important part of her role here is helping train the apprentices - Denise completed her SQA Assessors training in 2016.
Always a willing model for colours in their training - she's been everything from blue, red, purple and green over the years but is sporting a respectable dark brown for the moment - probably not for long!
She is also happy to lend an ear or a strong shoulder when needed!

We were absolutely delighted to win Best Aberdeen Business at the Aberdeen Business Awards 2018!
Lorraine, Leigh , Jamie and Abbie attended the awards evening at the Jury's Inn at Aberdeen Airport.
We were particularly pleased the award we won was based on votes from our clients - the people who count! Thank you to everyone that took the time, we do really appreciate it!
Onwards to the national Scotland's Business Awards! Abbie and I will be representing the salon in Glasgow at the beginning of June - voting has opened for the finals - if you would like to vote for us you can do so here:

Congratulations to all the finalists and we're looking forward to a lovely evening down south!

Ok, we know it's still a couple of months away but Christmas will be round soon enough - and there's still those Halloween parties to look forward to first.
GHD stylers and products help make prepping that party hair a breeze - they're not just for straightening or long hair - there's all manners of style techniques out there to help you get the best from your long, short, curly, straight hair this winter...

We opened our doors for the first time on Wednesday 4th August 2004!
Hatstand Nelly has changed and grown over the years but among the current team Lorraine still has Denise, Leigh, Jan and Louise who have all been with us from the first year - other than 8 lots of maternity leave between them!
We're also very privileged to have clients who have stayed with us throughout the last 13 years - always good to catch up and see what's going on with everyone when they visit the salon.
Some of our most satisfying achievements have been seeing our apprentices learn and grow through their training to become stylists in their own right - helping nurture the next generation of hairdressers is a very rewarding part of our work.
We had a lovely time this Sunday welcoming everyone to the salon to see and learn some tricks and techniques for their hair. Bubbly flowed free and nibbles were munched! We had our apprentices on braids, stylists showing how to make the most of your GHDs and more.
Most importantly, we raised over £300 for Northsound Cash for Kids!
